The tourism initiatives in Limone for the 2015 season once again successfully include two weekly hikes organised by the local Alpini Association, led by Gianpaolo Girardi, until September, in collaboration with the municipal authorities and the Tourism Association of Limone.

There is guided hike every Sunday, starting at 8a.m., this time a bit more challenging, taking you up to the Bonaventura Segala mountain hut, located 1,230 metres above sea level along the western side of Mount Carone. You will climb up along the Singol valley towards Pré, before following the Rans path up to the Mughera peak (1,161metres) and the Gul Pass, from where you will follow the mule track, almost perched on the edge of cliff overlooking Lake Garda, which will take you to the Bocca dei Fortini. At midday you will stop for a break at the Segal stop for a refuge run by the Italian Alpine Association. Rested and with your batteries recharged, you will set off again, hiking down the mountain on the Bernardinei path, with unparalleled views of the lake and Monte Baldo as you go. You obviously need to be quite fit for this hike, given the altitude difference, and you will need clothing suitable for the mountains.

Hikes are free of charge. Booking is not required.

Another walk will take place on Tuesdays, starting at 9a.m. from the information office on the beautiful statale Gardesana road (near the Comboni conference centre); it is a walk along the ”, (the Sunny Path), a fairly easy picturesque route which can be walked in around 3 hours, and that twists and turns, with hardly any altitude difference, towards Reamol, in the direction of Riva del Garda.

The area, close to the Trentino mountain hut, which was fortified during the world wars, has recently been cleaned and tidied up. The Sentiero del Sole is a nice, mainly flat, path, surrounded by pine trees, holly oaks and cypress trees, with the remnants of the fortifications built by the German soldiers in the 1943-45 war; you will able to observe an air-raid shelters and a trench. You will also see a Great War post overlooking the small lakeside towns of Torbole and Riva.

Along the walk you will also come across an ancient calchera, a characteristic lime kiln, and the beautiful lemon house in Reamol.

Hikes are free of charge. Booking is not required.
