Franciacorta Golf Club, not exactly a Lake Garda golf course, as it is located approximately an hours drive to the west, and just to the south of Lake Iseo. But this prestigious golf course, is certainly worth a mention in these pages and definitely worth a visit if you are in the region, especially if you are a wine lover as Franciacorta is famous for producing the finest Prosecco in the world.
The course, which opened in 1986, incorporates much of the personality of designer Pete Dye, but with the help of co-designer Marco Croze, Italian style and character has been maintained.
The 27 hole course, nested amidst 20,000 trees which were planted prior to construction, is situated in a valley which boasts dramatic views in all direction, the Alps reflecting on surface of Lake Iseo can be glimpsed between the trees.
Three 9 hole paths make up the 27 holes, these can be played in various combinations to play 18 holes with varying challenges.
