Lake Garda Fish Food and Wine Festival 2014

This Lake Garda food and wine festival, which celebrates Lake Garda fish and also the fantastic oil and wine of the Lake Garda region, has been running since May, but I have only just discovered it. Luckily it runs until October so we still have time to sample the wonderful local Lake Garda products in some of the amazing Lake Garda restaurants.

Indeed 21 restaurants around the west Brescian shore of Lake Garda are participating in this celebration. They dedicate one evening a week to a set menu which combines the delicate flavours of Lake Garda fish, with the olive oil and wines from farms and cantinas which are just a stones throw away. The organisation behind this long running event is ‘La Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori del Garda‘ (The Road of the wine and the flavours of Garda). This non profit organisation was founded in 2001, it’s objective being to raise awareness of the history, culture and art behind the wines and other local products, on the Brescia shore of Lake Garda, in response to to the growing demand for food and wine tourism.

Strada dei Vini also provide lots of information of the vinyards, olive oil producers and shop selling local products. They also maps showing different routes where you can discover some of the finest products in Lake Garda.
