About La Meridiana

La Meridiana is a small family business situated in the heart of the beautiful countryside Peunago del Garda. Grandfather Agostos’ family has been in the wine producing business for hundreds of years. He was born just a 2 kilometers from where La Meridiana cantina is situated, his vinyards remain at his birthplace in Monteacuto.

Agosto is passionate about his wines and his oil and indeed the place he was lucky enough to be born in. I visited the cantina for a tasting and afterwards was given a tour of the vineyards and olive groves.  When we were returning to the cantina from the fields Agosto told us that every morning when he woke up he thanked God for his good fortune in being born in such a beautiful area.

Agostos passion shines through in his wine, which has won many awards…..La Meridiana’s Groppello DOC won gold at the Fiera Peunago del Garda. Although the Valtenesi is primarily the region for Garda Classico Rosso, La Merdiana also produce a fantastic Chardonnay.

La Meridian has also won awards for it’s olive oil.

Valtenesi
A blend of local grapes produces an intense, elegant and harmonious wine.
Colour: intense ruby red Bouquet:

Garda Classico Groppello DOC
Produced with 85% groppello and barbera grapes, plus marzemino and sangiovese. Red ruby color, a lively jewel rich wine with a heavy perfume, a dry wine pleasant to drink.
Colour: ruby red
Bouquet: intense, clean, vinous, typical spicy
Taste: intense, clean, very fruity, full-bodied and tannic
Pairing: savory dishes, red meat, spiedo
Type of grapes: 86% Groppello – 9% Sangiovese – 5% Marzemino

Garda Marzemino DOC
Delicate bright red wine with shades of violet. Vegetable olfactory scents with the smell of violet, dry, delicate, fresh taste, easy to drink, with a balanced tannin persistence.

Garda Marzemino DOC Maigone
Produced with 85% marzemino grapes and 15% merlot barbera, a very intense ruby coloured wine with an harmonious structure. A full, velvety balanced flavour with a heavy wine perfume. A strong wine full of character.
Colour: Deep red with purple hues
Bouquet: intense, clean, fruity, slightly herbaceous
Taste: intense, rich fruit, fruity and tannic
Pairing: tasting dishes, smoked meats, red meats
Type of grapes: 85% Marzemino – 15% Barbera, Merlot, Rebo

Bianco Pianel
Produced with Riesling and Manzoni crossbreed, a dry aromatic wine, very palatable, fresh, slightly acidulent, with a balanced taste, fit for light summer dishes on the lake.
Colour: Bright straw yellow
Bouquet: intense, clean, fruity, slightly aromatic
Taste: intense, clean, harmonious, with a characteristic salinity
Pairing: first courses, lake fish and seafood, excellent as an aperitif

Garda Chardonnay DOC
Produced Solely using chardonnay grapes. This is without doubt a wine of the Valtènesi area. Here is a wine That Expresses its territorial potential and is not frightened of comparisons with wines of other areas. An elegant robust dry white wine rich in perfume.
Colour: pale yellow
Bouquet: intense, clean, complex, ethereal, slightly vanilla
Taste: intense, clean, great fruitfulness
Pairing: first courses, lake fish, oysters, white meat

Garda Classico Chiaretto DOC
The pride and joy of our cellar, an interesting wine with a lively and charismatic personality, with it’s lovely pink rose petal colour and fruit bouquet.
Colour: pale pink
Bouquet: intense, clean, floral, fine
Taste: delicate intensity, clean, fruity and rich feature salinity
Pairing: salumi, light dishes, white meats, excellent as an aperitivo

L’Eden
A dry sparkling wine

Il Classico
Olive Varieties: 40% Casaliva, 30% Leccino, 10% Pendolino, 10% FS17, 10% other

Colour: Faint yellow-green
Bouquet: Subtle fragrances of green grass meadow and almond
Flavour: Vein of ripe tomato, herbs of the field, olives, set to the sweetness

Desert Wine
Dioniso
Produced using withered grapes Marzemino of Rebo, 15 ° alcohol content and natural residual sugars over 10 gr/lt. It’s matches with dessert, cheese or as meditation wine .
Colour: very intense garnet red
Nose: hints of chocolate , prune, black cherry, of great intensity
Taste: austere and dense, with excellent fusion of sweetness with the richness of tannin
Pairing: dark chocolate, cherry jam tarts and cheese
Type of grapes: Marzemino – Rebo
Alcohol content: 15% vol.
