Cantine Aperte is an event that should not be missed by even those with a passing interest in wine. Cantina’s associated to the ‘Movimento Turismo del Vino’ (Wine Tourist Movement) open their cellar doors to the general public, welcoming them in to enjoy their wines and allow them to experience what goes on behind the scenes. It is also an opportunity to sample the local food as many of the cantina’s provide a full tasting experience matching their wine with the food from the exact area that the vines were grown.
Don’t worry if you aren’t very experienced at wine tasting, this event see’s complete novices mingle with the experts, tourists mingle with the locals and the producers mingle with the people that love to buy their wines. The result is a fantastic festive atmosphere where you can’t fail to have fun.
Italian wine is up there with the best wine in the world and three of the very best wine regions in Italy are bordered by the shores of Lake Garda. If you want to experience wine tasting in Lake Garda this weekend then Cantine Aperte is an event that you should not miss. You simply go to one of the participating cantina’s and purchase a wine glass for €10, You use the glass to taste the wines on offer and then take the glass with you to any participating cantina’s where you can taste as much wine as you want, (or your driver will allow).
