From emerald lakes to river beaches and crashing waterfalls, Michele Tameni picks 10 of the most beautiful and secluded locations from his new book Wild Swimming Italy

I came across this article in the Gaurdian newspaper which lists two Lake Garda Beaches in the top 10 swimming locations in Italy.

The Spiaggia Giamaica ‘Jamaica Beach’, is at the end of the Sirmione penninsular and the Gaurdian back up what Ciaran Elster said about the beach in the post Italian Beaches – Rail and Write a couple of weeks ago. That Spiaggia Giamaica comes in at number 2 in the list just proves how spectacular the beach is.

Just after it in the number 3 spot is the beach at Riva Del Garda. Two beaches in the top three is proof that it’s not necessary to go to the seaside to find great beaches in Italy, Lake Garda has an abundance of them.

Check out our map of Lake Garda beaches and read more posts about Lake Garda beaches including one of my favourites, the Mokai Beach in Salo.
