Osteria al Gallo….what a find! I think quaint is the way to describe this traditional Osteria, perhaps enchanting does it more justice, before you even step inside you feel that you have stepped back in time. Located on a back street of an antique Salo’ suburb, the pretty entrance makes you curious to get inside to discover what awaits. A number of seating areas with low arched ceilings, wooden tables, a wood panelled bar, a traditional fireplace for the cold winter nights, glass cabinets full of memorabilia; or dine ‘fuori’ on a very pretty terrace. You just know that the food is going to be good and you are not let down, the ‘Cucina Tipica’ provides you with the real taste of the region, and also a wood burning oven for fantastic pizza. The wine list is not extensive, but the quality is perfect and from a very good cantina less than 5km away. My advice is to step off the tourist track and find this restaurant; you will have a fantastic experience for a lot less than you would pay on the waterfront.
