About Tenuta Roveglia

Tenuta Roveglia grew from the love of the Lugana region of a Swiss business man, Frederico Zweifel, who emigrated to Lombardy at the end of the 19th century. He brought in the first wines and his passion has continued down four generation.

The ancient Roveglia farmstead is the only surviving example in the area of 15th century Lombardy architecture. It situated in a terrain with history going back 200 million years, which was cultivated by the Romans;old farmers still remember ploughing up the ancient coins and artifacts.

I was fortunate enough to visit Tenuta Roveglia for Cantine Aperte, I was equally impressed by the beautiful, historic building as I was the wine. The old stable, with its wooden beams, Veronese Rose marble walls and furnished with family heirlooms and art served as an excellent venue to taste amazing wine in a convivial atmosphere. An organised wine tasting tour is recommended but wine can be sampled and purchased in the 19th century lodge which serves as the shop.

For me the Tenuta Roveglia Lugana is as good as it gets so if you are in the area make sure you drop in.
